India: Coking Coal Weekly imports declined by 47.6%

India’s total Coking Coal imports declined by 47.6% to 0.51 MnT during the week ended on 1 Feb, 2014. 

SteelMint assessed that, India has imported around 0.51 MnT of Coking Coal at the end of week 5, which has declined from 0.97 MnT of preceding week. Out of the total imported Coal, around 18% was Coking Coal comes from different destination.

Most of the Coking Coal is imported from, Australia & New Zealand. Out of the total weekly imports, India has imported around 0.49 MnT of Coking Coal from Australia and imported 16,000 MT from New Zealand.

 

Week 5

Considering 33 major and minor Indian ports, Gangavaram has imported maximum quantity i.e. around 0.15 MnT of Coal in Week 5. The whole quantity was imported by SAIL. Vizag, the second highest quantity port, imported 0.13 MnT of Coking Coal belongs to JSPL (Jindal Steel & Power Limited) & SAIL.

SteelMint assessed that SAIL and Essar Steel are the major importers of Coking Coal last week. SAIL has imported about 0.24 MnT of Coking Coal from Australia & Newzealand. Essar Steel has imported around 0.10 MnT from Australia.

The ports considered are: Dahej, Mormugao, Navlakhi, Mundra, Mumbai, New Mangalore, Hazira, Kandla, Bedi, Porbander, Dahanu, Dharmatar PnP, Dharamtar Ispat, Tuticorin, Jaigarh, Dighi, Revdanda, Magdalla, Pipavav GPPL, UTCL- Pipavav, Sanghi, Sikka, Okha, Muldwarka, Dhamra, Ennore, Gangavaram, Haldia, Krishnapatnam, Kakinada, Paradip, Vizag and Karaikal.
