The coal ministry has banned transportation of coal by road, mandating it by railway or conveyor belts only, in Tamnar-Gharghoda mining areas of Chhattisgarh. This step is in compliance with a National Green Tribunal Feb’20 order to reduce pollution. Notably, few coal blocks located in these regions are scheduled for sixth round of auction in January.
