India: Coal Ministry rejects Chhattisgarh govt’s proposal to cancel mines allotted to Rajasthan

Union coal minister Prahlad Joshi has said that the central government cannot accept the Chhattisgarh government’s proposal to cancel the mines allotted to Rajasthan Raja Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd. The centre has allotted Rajasthan three coal blocks – Parsa East-Kanta Basan-II (PEKB), Parsa and Kente Extension in Chhattisgarh. The Chhattisgarh government’s proposal came amid protests by residents of the nearby forest area.
