India: Coal imports fall nearly 10% m-o-m in September

India’s coal imports fell by 9% m-o-m to 20.41 mnt in Sep’22, as per CoalMint vessel data. Coking coal imports rose marginally by 3% m-o-m, as Indian steel mills started restocking post-monsoon. Shipments of thermal coal fell by 14% m-o-m at 13.3 mnt. Meanwhile, import volumes increased by 37% y-o-y compared to Sep’21.
