Coal India Ltd. (CIL) has raised its supplies to thermal power plants amid spiralling power generation. The company’s dispatches hit 1.64 mnt/day in the first half of Apr’22, registering an increase of 14% against 1.43 mnt/day in the corresponding period of Apr’21. These efforts have proven insufficient as coal inventory at power plants has started to decline at a faster rate, currently assessed at 22.97 mnt on 17 Apr’22 against 25.43 mnt on 1 Apr.
