WCL will offer 1.046 mnt on 10 Jul, while SECL will auction the remaining 103,000 t on 11 Jul. The combined offering comprises coal from underground and opencast mines through both road and rail dispatch modes.
WCL contributes over 90% of total volumes
WCL accounts for more than 91% of the combined auction quantity, with offerings spread across underground mines, opencast mines and cost-plus operations.
The largest allocation comes from Ukani OCM (Cost Plus) at 416,000 t, including 400,000 t through road and 16,000 t through rail. The mine has notified G11 Cr. ROM (-100 mm) at INR 5,392/t for road dispatches and INR 5,302/t for rail dispatches, the highest notified prices in the auction basket.
Among other large offerings, Amalgamated Yekona I & II OCM (Quarry-I) has notified 75,000 t of G10 Cr. ROM (-100 mm) at INR 2,167/t, while the Sasti OCM and Gondegaon OCM clusters have each offered 104,000 t through road and rail. The Sasti cluster carries a representative G11 grade with a notified price of INR 1,960/t, whereas the Gondegaon cluster has representative G10-G11 coal priced at INR 2,227/t.
Opencast mines dominate medium-sized lots
WCL has also notified 54,000 t each from Penganga OCM, Amalgamated Gouri-Pauni Expansion OCM (Sub Quarry-2, Gouri) and Ghonsa OCM. Representative notified prices stand at INR 2,167/t for the Penganga and Gouri clusters and INR 2,836/t for the Ghonsa cluster.
Meanwhile, Bhanegaon OCM has placed 44,000 t of representative G10-G12 coal under the auction at a notified price of INR 2,199/t.
Underground mines offer over 130,000 t
Among underground mines, Tawa-I UG has offered 45,000 t of G7 Cr. ROM (-100 mm) at INR 3,200/t, followed by Chatarpur-I UG with 40,000 t of G9 coal at INR 2,349/t and Tawa-II UG with 28,500 t of G8 coal at INR 2,858/t.
The remaining quantities include 9,000 t from the Nehariya UG cluster, 6,000 t from Saoner UG-III, 4,000 t from Bahandewada Incline UG (Rajur), 3,000 t from Saoner UG-II, and 5,000 t from Ballarpur UG (3 & 4 Pits).
SECL to auction 103,000 t from three clusters
SECL will offer 103,000 t across Katkona UG, Khairaha UG and Amlai OC, with supplies available through both road and rail.
Katkona UG has notified the highest quantity at 45,000 t, represented by G3 sized ROM (-250 mm) coal with a representative modulated price of INR 3,449/t and a floor price of INR 4,139/t. Of the total quantity, 5,000 t will move through road, while 40,000 t will be dispatched through Katora Siding by rail. The rail-linked parcels comprise coal from Jhilmili UG (G8), Pandopara (G7) and Katkona 1&2 (G3).
Khairaha UG has offered 34,000 t of G8 sized ROM (-100 mm) with a representative modulated price of INR 1,931/t and a floor price of INR 2,318/t. Road dispatch accounts for 30,000 t, while the balance 4,000 t will move through Burhar Siding. The rail basket comprises coal from Amlai OC, Sharda HW, Rampur Batura OC, Bangwar UG, Damini UG, Khairaha UG and Rajendra UG, carrying a representative rail modulated price of INR 2,761/t.
Amlai OC completes the offering with 24,000 t of G8 sized ROM (-100 mm). The cluster has a representative modulated price of INR 1,931/t and a floor price of INR 2,318/t, with 20,000 t offered through road and 4,000 t through Burhar Siding by rail.
Market outlook
The combined auction basket is dominated by G3, G8, G10 and G11 grades, with road dispatch accounting for the majority of the offered quantity. WCL’s Ukani OCM (Cost Plus) carries the highest notified price in the basket, while SECL’s auction provides a broader range of modulated prices across different quality segments.
Market participants are expected to closely monitor bidding interest, which is likely to be influenced by prevailing domestic coal demand, inventory positions and spot market price trends.
