India: CIL achieves highest ever over burden removal

Coal India has recorded 1,367.68 million cubic meters of over burden removal (OBR) in ongoing fiscal (FY23) as on 7 Feb’23 which is an all-time high. The previous high was 1,362.06 million cubic meters attained last fiscal. OBR refers to removal of extra layer of rock/soil from mining surface, which is important in making opencast mines future ready for faster coal extraction.
