Odisha contributes almost entirely towards chrome ore production in India. Chrome Ore Production in Nov’19 was noted to be 345,559MT. It is significantly up by 47% as compared to the previous month’s production.
Production level by Captive miners in Nov’19 increased by 24% as compared to the previous month. Balasore Alloys contributed the highest amount in the production of Chrome Ore, amongst the Captive mines in India. The production went down by 54% in Nov’19 for Balasore alloys on M-o-M basis. Meanwhile, Infrastructure Development Company Limited (IDCOL) production for Chrome ore remained stable on M-o-M basis. However, Ferro Alloys Corporation Limited(FACOR) decreased their Chrome Ore production by 8% in Nov’19.
Production levels by Merchant miners were stable with a significant increase of 50% M-o-M in Nov’19. TATA Steel contributed to 58% of the total Chrome ore production in Nov’19. Production for TATA Steel stood at 201,575MT which was 76% higher than the previous month.

TATA Steel and OMC remained the largest miners in Nov’19 with a contribution of 58% and 16% in total Chrome Ore production by India. Indian Metals & Ferro Alloys Limited (IMFA) remained the third-largest merchant Miner with 40,211MT production in Nov’19. B.C. Mohanty & Sons increased their production levels by 7%.
Total Production by Captive miners remained at 31,450MT in Nov’19, which is higher by 24% as compared to previous month production. Production levels for Merchant miners are at 314,109MT.
