Chrome Ore dispatches suffered heavily in April due to major concern over the lacklustre Ferro Chrome market conditions. A Ferro Chrome smelter shared with SteelMint, that the market is plagued by the down-trending Stainless steel demand which in turn is having a cascading effect on the Ferro Chrome prices. The Chrome Ore dispatches remained highly affected by a combination of several factors such as:
1. Logistics remained affected severely due to the panic in the country by the pandemic. Although, goods transportation was not blocked, yet the manpower shortage remained a major issue.
2. Even though Steel was listed under the essential commodities, the industries were either shut or running with low capacity to curtail the pandemic. Due to this, the demand for Ferro Alloys remained slow.
Major Buyers: Balasore Alloys, IMFA and FACOR were the three manufacturing units to procure the highest amount of Chrome ore in April, however, all of the three industries procured from their captive mines. Meanwhile, Merchant miners received a dull response amidst transportation issues.
