INDIA: Chhattisgarh Sponge iron association seek NMDC to raise quota of Iron ore to 6 MT

In a ministerial meeting held on Monday which was attended
by the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Dr. Raman Singh, the Chhattisgarh Sponge Iron
Manufacture's Association has once again highlighted the issue of the
short supply raw material faced by the steel units in Chhattisgarh.

The meeting was also attended by SAIL's Chairman C S Verma
who has also been given the additional charge of being the Chairman of NMDC.

In a telephonic interview with SteelMint,
Mr. Anil Nachrani, the President of Chhattisgarh
Sponge Iron Manufacture's Association (CSIMA)
said, “Our association has put forward
three major points in the meeting- Firstly, All the mines should be brought
under a single platform and they should be nationalized. Secondly, we want the
doubling of Iron ore quota of NMDC to 6 MT (million tonnes) from present 3 MT on priority basis.
Out of the 6 MT, 1 MT should be for Iron ore fines. And lastly, there should be
a single committee to address & solve all the issues related to the Steel industry.
It will not only save time but will also help in fast tracking all the pending
issues.”

“The ministry will address the issues in another meeting to
be conducted after 10 days and we are hoping to see positive results after that”,
he added further.
