According to railway movement data maintained with SteelMint, India’s largest iron ore miner –NMDC supplied 69 rakes of iron ore to Chhattisgarh based units in Feb’19 Increase is supply is more than twice on monthly basis as against 33 rakes in Jan’19. The increase is attributed to price drop by miner made towards beginning of the month. The miner announced price cut of INR 200-380/MT, post which steel and DRI producers of India made aggressive bookings from NMDC (Chhattisgarh).
NMDC total iron ore supplies for the month recorded at 386 rakes (1.49 MnT), up 9% on monthly basis, against 354 rakes (1.36 MnT) in Jan’19.
JSW Steel, Dolvi increased procurement by 88% in Feb’19
JSW Steel (Dolvi) sourcing from NMDC recorded at 45 rakes in Feb’19, up 88% as against 24 rakes a month before.
The procurement by units outside C.G has witnessed marginal drop on monthly basis to 278 rakes in Feb’19 as against 280 rakes in Jan’19.
RINL procurement from NMDC Bailadila mines dropped 20% on monthly basis to 166 rakes as compared to Jan’19 procurement at 208 rakes.
KIOCL has increased its sourcing sharply in Feb’19 to 45 rakes compared to 24 iron ore rakes from NMDC in Jan’19.
NMDC movement for exports dropped 5% in Feb’19
NMDC’s movement for export of iron ore for the month of Feb’19 witnessed fall of 5% to 39 rakes as compared to 41 rakes a month before.
