India’s cement production rose 12.5% y-o-y to 39.7 mnt in August 2026 from 35.3 mnt a year earlier, according to the Index of Eight Core Industries released by the Office of the Economic Adviser. Volumes were supported by a favourable base and continued infrastructure activity. However, output declined from 42.1 mnt in July as monsoon-related disruptions weakened construction activity. Planned maintenance and debottlenecking shutdowns at some plants also weighed on production.
