Brahmani River Pellets Limited (BRPL), an Odisha based pellet maker has achieved the highest ever pellet shipment volumes in Jul ’20. The company sailed out 8 vessels of total quantity 397,160 t. Out of the total, six vessels were exported to China with a total quantity of 320,060 t, followed by Indonesia at 55,100 t and Malaysia at 22,000 t. Prior to this, the company reported the highest monthly shipment of 3,87,007 t in Dec’19.
BRPL is co-owned by Thriveni Pellets Pvt Ltd and JSW Techno Projects Ltd. BRPL has set-up a 4.0 mnt pa iron ore pellet plant at Jajpur, Odisha, 4.0 mn t pa iron ore concentrate production at beneficiation plant Barbil, Odisha, a 218 km long iron ore slurry pipeline from beneficiation plant to pellet plant.

India exported 5.07 mn t pellets in Q2 CY20, according to data maintained with SteelMint. BRPL remained the largest exporter at 0.84 mn t for the quarter, up 35% Q-o-Q as against 0.62 mn t Q1CY20.
Indian pellet makers were quite active in exports due to increase in global pellet prices and strong Chinese demand. SteelMint’s pellet export price assessment moved up to $117-118/t CNF China by mid Jul’20 against $112/t CNF China in mid Jun’20.
