Indian Billet Market

India: Billet Prices in Mumbai down by INR 800/MT W-o-W

  • Billet prices in western India down by INR 700-800/MT
  • Mumbai Billet prices have fallen below Raipur offers for the first time
  • Prices are expected to fall in other markets as well

Billet prices have corrected almost by INR 800/MT (USD 13/MT) W-o-W in Mumbai & Jalna, India’s one of the largest Billet manufacturing clusters. Market participants mentioned that prices have corrected owing to heavy rainfall in this region, which has slowed down construction activities. Current offers are hovering in the range of INR 31,700-32,000/MT (Ex-Works).

It is interesting to see that for the first time Billet prices in Mumbai (INR 31,700/MT) have declined below prices in Raipur (INR 31,900/MT). Ideally, there is a difference of INR 1,000-1,500/MT; Mumbai being the premium.
