Goa based renowned billet manufacturing unit, having a per day production capacity of approx 300 t, has put their plant under maintenance shutdown since last couple of days. This has resulted in supply shortage of billets in the local market followed by price hikes by other suppliers. Notably, as per the data maintained with SteelMint, Goa’s billet capacity is around 1,800 t per day, including both merchant sales as well as self-consumption. The current offer for IF grade billet stands at INR 41,500/t DAP. However, buyers are not willing to buy at a higher price owing to moderate demand in finished steel, sources reported.
