India: Bar and Rod Imports Increase in Jul’17

Indian Bar and Rod imports drifted upwards in Jul’17 by 39%, the recent release data by Indian customs showed.

The imports under the Alloy Bar & Rod and Non Alloy Bar & Rod in the month of Jul’ 17 reported at 76,213 MT against 54,811 MT in Jun’17 but the quantity remained less.

On yearly premises, the imports rose significantly in Jul’17 by 41.9% against 53,718 MT in Jul’16.

Largest exporters in India were China at 45,067 MT followed by Japan at 7,276 MT and the Ukraine at 5,520 MT for the month of Jul’17.

Major imports were done under the CH-7228 (Alloy Bar and Rod) followed by CH7217 (Wire of Non Alloy Steel).

Total Finished Steel Imports:

In the month of Jul’17 India became the net importer of total finished steel and imported 0.798 MnT scaling up by 23% against 0.65 MnT in Jun’17. On yearly basis imports jumped by 42.2% against Jul’16.
