India: Aluminium imports increase nearly 7% y-o-y in 2023

In 2023, India witnessed a 6.9% y-o-y increase in aluminium imports, reaching 2.62 mnt from 2.45 mnt in 2022. The USA led with 1.07 mnt, trailed by China (0.54 mnt) and the UK (0.36 mnt). Arrivals in Nhava Sheva Port were the highest, with a volume of 0.57 mnt, followed by Gujarat (0.43 mnt) and Chennai (0.33 mnt). Notably, scrap imports rose to 1.85 mnt from 1.75 mnt in 2022.
