Shipbreaking melting scrap prices in Gujarat’s Alang market moved up slightly today. Heavy Melting Scrap (80:20) prices are assessed at INR 38,300/t, while attachment scrap prices stand at INR 39,300/t. Range-bound conversion spread from melting scrap to semi-finished steel along with minor improvement in finished steel (rebar/structure) prices can be attributed as the reasons for minor improvement in scrap prices today, SteelMint notes.
