Shipbreaking melting scrap prices in Alang rose by INR 1,200/t, d-o-d, to a four-month high on 30 Sep’21. Prices of Heavy Melting Scrap (80:20) stood at INR 38,100-38,300/t, while attachment scrap prices were at INR 39,100-39,300/t exw. Healthy spot transactions in semi-finished and finished long steel boosted buying enquiries and the rally in prices. Rising prices of substitutes is also supporting scrap offers.
