Adani and Thriveni Entreprises have joined hands to set up a 30 mnt pa beneficiation plant linked to a 24 mnt pa pellet plant with 30 mnt pa slurry pipeline. The project that proposes the beneficiation plant in Deojhar, Keonjhar district and pellet plant in Dhamra, Bhadrak district where Adani has its port, received approval from the state’s high-level committee on 10 August.
Their joint venture, Sompuri Infrastructures Private Limited proposes to invest INR 7,811 crore in the pellet plant and a filter cake unit, INR 4,592.18 in the beneficiation plant and INR 3,674 crore in the pipeline.
A host of beneficiation and pellet plants is in the offing in the iron rich state. The other project to get the committee’s nod was ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India’s 6 mnt pa beneficiation plant and 12 mnt pa slurry pipeline. The plant is proposed to be set up in Dalki in Keonjhar with an investment of Rs 1,490 crore.
Proposals for a downstream unit in the metal sector that also received the government’s nod was a 60,000 tonne-industrial structure and a 6,000 t steel plant equipment facility by Tata Steel Limited, a 2.5 mntpa steel plant and 370 MW captive power plant in Kalinganagar by Orissa Alloy Steel Pvt Ltd, and 0.5 mntpa integrated steel plant proposed by Rungta Metals Private Limited at Rairangpur, Mayurbhanj. The government has also approved Aarti Steels Limited’s expansion in downstream units and a 2 mnt pa beneficiation and 1.2 mntpa pellet plant in Cuttack.
Adani Enterprises Limited is also foraying into aluminium, with 4.0 mntpa refinery and 175 MW captive power plant that it proposes to set up in the bauxite-rich lands of Kashipur, Rayagada district at an estimated investment of Rs 41,653 crore.
