The Indian government has hiked import duty on steel after a continuous lobbying by domestic steel players, in order to curb rising imports from China and CIS countries.
Duty on flat steel products were revised upwards from 7.5% to 10%.
On long products of steel like TMT bars, angles and channels, duty has been revised from 5% to 7.5%.
Duty on billets/slabs has also been revised from 5% to 7.5%.
