Indian Government to Start Investigation on Anti-dumping Duty on Met Coke Imports

To safeguard the domestic producers, Indian Metallurgical Coke Manufacturers Association (IMCOM), on behalf of indigenous producers, has applied for instigation of investigation for imposing anti-dumping duty on LAM coke exported from China and Australia.

The association has proposed the investigation on imposition of the duty mentioning injury to the domestic industry due to exports. The product considered in the investigation is Low Ash Metallurgical coke (Met coke). However, Metallurgical coke with high ash content (more tha18%) will not be considered for investigation.

Furthermore, domestic manufacturers who produce Met coke for captive use, are excluded from the above proposal.

It should be noted that India imported about 3.3 MnT of Met coke in FY15 and has already imported 2 MnT of Met coke till Nov’15 in FY16.

 Note: Period considered for investigation is from Apr’14 to Jun’15.
