SteelMint has analysed operational and financial performance of 4 major Indian steel mills- JSW Steel , SAIL, Tata Steel and JSPL for Q1 FY19.
JSW Steel aims to produce 16.75 MnT crude steel in FY19
-Sajjan Jindal led JSW Steel Ltd reported EBITDA of INR 4,822 Crore in Q1FY19 against INR 5,043 Crore in Q4FY18 .
-Crude steel production also fell down to 4.11 MT in Q1FY19, compared to 4.31 MT recorded in Q4FY18. However on yearly basis, it was up by 5%
-Steel sales figures also decreased to 3.83 MT in Q1FY19 compared to 4.22 MT in Q4FY18. However on yearly premises it was up by 9%.
SAIL saleable steel production up 13% Y-o-Y in Q1 FY19
-Indian state-owned steel-making company SAIL posted INR 2,685 crore EBITDA in Q1FY19 compared to INR 2,625 crore in Q4FY18.
-In Q1FY19, SAIL’s crude steel production dropped and recorded at 3.945 MnT compared to the previous quarter in which it was recorded at 4.004 MnT. This shows a quarterly decrease of 1.47% in crude steel production. However on Y-o-Y basis it was up by 13%.
-The company’s saleable steel sales were recorded at 3.738 MnT in Q4FY18. But in Q1FY19, it was recorded at 3.271 MnT. Steel sales decreased by 12.49%
Tata Steel domestic sales up, export volumes down in Q1 FY19
-Tata Steel’s, India EBITDA rose from INR 4,823 Crore in Q4FY18 to INR 5,118 Crore in Q1FY19.
-Company’s crude steel production also marginally increased to 3.18 MT in Q1FY19, compared to 3.07 MT posted in Q4FY18. However on yearly basis the same went up by 8% in Q1FY19 against 2.94 MnT in Q1FY18.
-Export volumes decline significantly by 36% to 0.16 MnT in Q1FY19 against 0.25 MnT in previous quarter.Domestic sales grew by 14% Y-o-Y to 2.81MnT in Q1 FY19 against 2.47 MnT in similar quarter of previous year.
JSPL crude steel output up 37% Y-o-Y
-Naveen Jindal led JSPL generated INR 1,645 Crore EBITDA in Q1FY19 compared to INR 1,519 crore in Q4FY18. However on yearly basis, EBIDTA was higher by 119% Y-o-Y.
-The company’s crude Steel production saw a decrease of 0.04 MT and reduced to 1.22 MT in Q1FY19, compared to 1.26 MT produced in Q4FY18. However on yearly basis it was higher by 37%.
-Saleable steel sales figures increased slightly from 1.18 MT posted in Q4FY18 to 1.19 MT posted in Q1FY19.
