HC Orders JSPL to Supply Electricity @ Rs 4.20 Per Unit Till Further Orders

CSERC was also asked to submit records of Raigarh Ispat Udyog Sangh Vs JSPL to HC

Chhattisgarh High court on 25th June 2018 ordered Secretary of Chhattisgarh State Electricity Regulatory Commission (CSERC) to send the record of Raigarh Ispat Udyog Sangh Vs. Jindal Steel & Power Limited. High Court asked the commission to explain the circumstances, which compelled the Commission to pass the order dated 19th June, 2018 without noticing the petitioner and other affected parties.

High Court ordered this on the petition filed by Jindal steel and power ltd against Chhattisgarh State Electricity Regulatory Commission and others.

Reasons Behind The Petition

To ensure uninterrupted continuous power supply to the consumers of Jindal Industrial Park, the Commission has passed an order dated 19th June 2018 reviewing and omitting certain portion of order dated 30 May 2018.

Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. submitted that the order of the commission is contrary to the order passed by High Court. After which HC stayed the order of the commission and ordered the petitioners to supply electricity @ 4.20 until further orders.

There are about 25-30 induction furnaces installed in O.P. Jindal’s industrial park located in Punjipatra, Raigarh and produces about 80,000 MT of ingots/billets every month.

The next hearing date is fixed on 24 July 2018.
