Godavari Power & Ispat Limited (GPIL), has started the trial production of its 1.2 MnTPA Iron Pellet plant at Raipur (Chhattisgarh).
It is already operating a 0.6 MnTPA Pellet plant and is now, the largest Pellet producer in the state of Chhattisgarh in terms of installed capacity.
SteelMint spoke to Mr. Abhishek Agrawal, Executive Director (ED) at GPIL regarding technology, production target, capacity utilization and domestic offers.
The company is using Grate Kiln (Chinese) technology due to better quality and also as it takes about a year less for execution of the entire project in comparison to others. GPIL completed this project in about 22 months i.e. starting August 2011.
For August, it is targeting to manufacture 75,000-90,000 tons of the raw material and intends to touch 80% of total capacity; is utilizing 60% of the capacity presently.
The beginning of commercial operations is just a couple of weeks away.
Manufacturers at Raipur maintain Pellet offers at Rs 7,500/MT (ex works), which was lowered in the first week of July.
