Bhubaneswar: The government of India’s mineral exploration body Geological Survey of India (GSI) has identified 100 blocks for undertaking regional mineral exploration. These blocks will be allotted through competitive bidding.
“About 100 blocks have been identified by the GSI for auctioning for regional exploration” Union Secretary mines Mr. Balwinder Kumar has said recently.
With a view to attract private sector participation in mineral exploration the government of India is in the process of formulating a ‘National Mineral Exploration Policy’. Inter-ministerial consultation process on the policy is in progress after which it’ll be send the union cabinet for final approval.
The secretary during the state mining minister meet has also asked State governments to identify blocks both for regional and detailed exploration and to prepare for auctioning of the blocks for exploration with revenue sharing mechanism.
