India: Goa Iron ore E-auction postponed; likely to happen Next Week

Goan government has postponed the 5th Iron ore e-auction, which was supposed to take place on 02 Sep, 2014 for about 2.1 MnT. Sources say that dates are yet to come but expect it to happen anytime in 2nd week of September, 2014.

The process has been delayed as bidders have requested, saying – market is in a festive mood. Also, they have not been able to complete the inspection of the material. Considering their request, it has been postponed.

The 4th Iron ore e-auction had received a decent response from steel plants and exporters. About 90% of total available quantity was sold.

Goan government had auctioned 3.7 MnT of ore through Metal Scrap Trading Corporation in three e-auctions conducted between February & August. It was performed under the supervision of a high-level committee, set up under the guidelines of the Supreme Court.
