Global stainless steel melt shop production rises by 6% y-o-y in Q1CY’25

Global stainless steel melt shop production rose 6.2% y-o-y to 15.55 mnt in Q1CY’25, according to the World Stainless Association. China led with 9.62 mnt, an 11.2% increase, while Europe and the US also posted growth of 2.9% and 8.6%, respectively, as compared to Q1CY’24. However, Asia (excluding China and South Korea) saw a 3.4% y-o-y decline in output with 1.78 mnt.
