Global stainless steel melt shop production rises 3% y-o-y in Q2CY’25

Global stainless steel melt shop production rose 3.1% y-o-y to 16.36 mnt in Q2CY’25, according to World Stainless Association. China led with 10.54 mnt, an 3.9% increase, while Europe’s volumes dropped by 5.1%. The US posted growth of 7.9%, as compared to Q2CY’24. Asia (excluding China and South Korea) saw a 4.7% y-o-y increase in output at 3.491 mnt. Production increased on q-o-q basis by 5% from 15.57 mnt in Q1CY’25.
