World’s sponge iron (DRI) production just look another hit in Nov’15; declined by 13% Y-o-Y in Nov’15 and 5% during Jan-Nov’15 against Jan-Nov’14.
Alike crude steel production, sponge (DRI) production also fell by 13% to 4.64 MnT in Nov’15 against 5.31 MnT in Nov’14. During January to November, total DRI production decreased by 5% to 55 MnT in 2015 from 57.86 MnT in 2014.
As per Worldsteel, India reports 1.45 MnT DRI production in Nov’15, witnessing highest double-digit decline of 14% compared with 1.68 MnT in Nov’14. Meanwhile, Iran’s production fell by 6% to 1.17 MnT against 1.25 MnT in Nov’14.
In the meantime, South Africa produced 0.14 MnT DRI, witnessing a downfall of 7% relative to 0.15 MnT in Nov’14.
