Slab export offers in seaborne market increases this week due to rise in coking coal prices. Some deals have also been reported at higher prices.
Export offers from CIS countries are currently assessed at USD 350-355/MT, FoB Black Sea, owing to rising raw material prices and increased demand from Europe. It may be noted that European Union has imposed anti dumping duty on Chinese plates last month. CIS manufacturers are likely to increase the export offers by USD 10-20/MT.
Brazil being one of the major exporters, the slab offers are assessed at USD 350-360/MT, FoB Brazil.
POSCO-Indonesia, a major slab exporter is currently not entering in to any slabs export deal as the company is already booked with orders for this year till Dec’16.
There are no firm offers from Indian manufacturers. But participants mention that prices will not be less than USD 350-355/MT, FoB India.
Besides this, Indian importers are also not able to book huge quantity of slabs due to limited supply of slabs in overseas market.
