Global prices of semi-finished steel (slabs) have been on the rise due to increasing raw material (iron ore and coking coal) prices. Deals below $600/t are no more happening in the Southeast Asian markets. Spot prices of slab-based hot-rolled coils and planks have hit $700/t levels. Thus, it is expected that slabs prices may increase further in the near term.
