With the recent trade statistics released by various major Global semi-finished products exporters and importers it can be seen that the top exporters and importers of pig iron almost contribute 80-90% of the total exports and imports of semi finished products.
Exporting Countries
Russia:
Russia one of the largest exporter of Semi-Finished products, exported 15.2 MnT during CY’16, reporting a increase by 4% in its exports as compared to CY’15 where the country exported around 14.6 MnT.
Ukraine:
Brazil, exported 7.74 MnT in CY’16 with a negligible change in its exports from CY’15 where the country exported 7.75 MnT of Semi-Finished products
Brazil:
The country’s exports of semi-finished products dipped 9% in CY’16 as they exported 6.2 MnT. And they had exported 6.9 MnT in CY’15.
Japan:
Japan exported 4.2 MnT of semi-finished products in CY’16. The exports in CY’16 were less by 7% from CY2015 exports where the country exported 4.5 MnT.
Germany:
Germany registered 1% downfall in its exports of semi-finished products as the country exported only 1.59 MnT in CY’16 as compared to 1.61 MnT pig iron export in CY 2015.
Importing Countries–
- Turkey, was the largest importer of Semi-finished products with a reduction in their imports by 22% in CY’16 as they imported 6.1 MnT of pig iron as compared to CY’15 imports amounting 7.8 MnT
- The imports of semi-finished products in Indonesia increased by 17% in CY’16, the country imported around 4.9 MnT as compared to the import of 4.2 MnT in CY’15.
- Import of semi-finished products in the USA were down by 11% for CY’16 as they imported around 4.6 MnT as compared to 5.2 MnT import in CY’2015
- South Korea saw a upward movement of 17% in its imports of semi-finished products after importing 2.8 MnT in CY’16 in lieu of 2.4 MnT import in CY’15
- Thailand imported 4.5 MnT in Cy’16 booming up by 47% as the country imported 3 MnT of semi-finished products in CY’15
- Semi-Finished products importer Italy saw the country increase its imports by 2% as they imported 3.5 MnT in CY’16 as compared to importing 3.4 MnT in CY’15
- A rise by 13% in CY’16. Taiwan imported 3.2 MnT in CY’16 whereas it imported 2.8 MnT in Cy’15
- France imported 2 MnT semi-finished products in CY’16. When compared to its imports in Cy’15 i.e. 1.95 MnT, it shows that the country’s imports increased by 7%
- Belgium imports in CY’16 decreased by 12% as they imported 1.6 MnT in comparison to importing 1.8 MnT in CY’15.
- Germany’s semi-finished products imports were down by 9 % in CY’16. They imported 1.4 MnT in CY’16 and 1.5 MnT in CY’15
