According to the recent customs data released, world’s fifth largest steel exporter – Germany exported 1.03 MnT flat steel in Sept’16. On monthly premises, country’s flat steel exports have moved up by 16% as the same stood at 0.89 MnT in Aug’16.
However on Y-o-Y basis, Germany flat steel exports declined marginally by 1% compared to 1.04 MnT in Sept’15.
From Jan’16-Sept’16 Germany exported 8.75 MnT flat steel, down 1% compared to the same period last year.

HR coils/plates exports from Germany moved up 14% M-o-M to 0.33 MnT in Sept’16. Exports of CR coils/plates from Germany increased 13% M-o-M to 0.09 MnT in Sept’16.

Germany’s Top 5 Flat Steel Export Markets
Italy remained the most preferred destination for Germany flat steel exports. Italy imported 0.133 MnT flat steel from Germany in Sept’16, up 67% M-o-M. Other major markets were – Poland – 0.115 MnT, Belgium – 0.098 MnT, France – 0.086 MnT and Netherlands – 0.083 MnT.
Note: Flat steel export figures include HS codes – 7208 (HR), 7209 (CR), 7225 (electrical steel), 7210 and 7212 (galvanized coated flat products).
