France, the world’s seventh largest iron ore importer has imported 1.57 MnT iron ore in Aug’16, according to the trade statistics released by France customs.
Iron ore imports have witnessed a growth of 19% M-o-M as it was 1.32 MnT in Jul’16. However, France iron ore imports dropped down by 2% on Y-o-Y basis as imports were around 1.60 MnT in Aug’15.
During the first eight months of 2016, the country imported 9.39 MnT iron ore, down by 16.3% Y-o-Y as it was 11.22 MnT in the same period prior this year.
The non-agglomerated iron ore (lumps and fines) import in Aug’16 was registered at 1.18 MnT, up by 8% M-o-M and down by 6% Y-o-Y. On similar lines, the agglomerated ore (pellets and concentrates) import was registered at 0.39 MnT, significantly up by 67% M-o-M and 12% Y-o-Y.
- Brazil, the largest exporter of iron ore to France has exported 48% of the total France imports. In Aug’16, the country exported 0.76 MnT iron ore, up by 22% M-o-M. The nation imported 0.97 MnT iron ore in Aug’15.
- Canada, the second-largest iron ore exporter of iron ore to France has exported 0.60 MnT in Aug16 against 0.62 MnT in Jul’16. The country exported 0.53 MnT iron ore in Aug’15.
- Mauritania, the third largest iron ore exporter of iron ore to France has exported 0.08 MnT in Aug’16 as well as in Jul’16. The nation exports remained nil in Aug’15.
