France, seventh largest iron ore importer of the world has imported 1.64 MnT iron ore in Nov’16, according to the trade statistics released by France customs.
Iron ore imports have witnessed an increase of 37% M-o-M as it was 1.19 MnT in Oct’16. However, it has gone up by 11% Y-o-Y basis as imports were around 1.48 MnT compared with the numbers for the month of Oct’15.
During the first eleven months of 2016, the country imported 13.20 MnT iron ore, down by 7% Y-o-Y as it was 14.23 MnT in the same period prior to this year.
The non-agglomerated iron ore (lumps and fines) import in Nov’16 was registered at 1.28 MnT, up by 28% M-o-M but down by 8% Y-o-Y for the month of Nov’15. However, the agglomerated ore (pellets and concentrates) import was registered at 0.35 MnT, up by 86% M-o-M and significantly up by 341% Y-o-Y compared with the same month in 2015.
• Brazil was the largest Iron Ore exporter to France in the month of Nov’16 amounting to 54.43% of the total material imported by France. The country exported 0.89 MnT iron ore, up by 89% M-o-M. The nation exported 0.84 MnT iron ore in Nov’15.
• Canada moved down to the second level and exported 0.67 MnT in Nov’16 against 0.58 MnT in Oct’16. The country exported 0.59 MnT iron ore in Nov’15 to France.
• Russia was the third largest iron ore exporter to France and exported 0.08 MnT in the month of Nov’16
