France Iron Ore Import Higher by 21% in Oct’16

France, the world’s seventh largest iron ore importer has imported 1.19 MnT iron ore in Oct’16, according to the trade statistics released by France customs.

The country’s iron ore imports have witnessed an increase of 21% M-o-M as it was 0.98 MnT in Sep’16. However, on Y-o-Y basis the iron ore imports are almost up 120% that is around 0.54 MnT in Oct’15.

During the first 10 months of 2016, the country imported 11.56 MnT iron ore, down by 10.3% Y-o-Y as it was 12.75 MnT in the same period last year.

france-iron-ore-imports-in-oct16The non-agglomerated iron ore (lumps and fines) import in Oct’16 was registered at 1 MnT, up by 67% M-o-M and 117% Y-o-Y. On similar lines, the agglomerated ore (pellets and concentrates) import was registered at 0.19 MnT, down 50% M-o-M and up 138% Y-o-Y.

  1. Canada moved to the first position in exporting iron ore to France in the month of Oct’16 amounting to 48.74% of the total material imported by the country. In Oct’16, the country exported 0.58 MnT iron ore, up 66% M-o-M. The nation imported 0.15 MnT iron ore in Oct’15.
  2. Brazil, a largest iron ore exporter to France saw an increase of 0.47 MnT in Oct’16 against 0.44 MnT in Sep’16. The country exported 0.08 MnT iron ore in Oct’15 to France.
  3. Mauritania, the third largest iron ore exporter of iron ore to France has exported 0.08 MnT in Oct’16 for the fourth consecutive month. The country export was double at 0.16 MnT in Oct’15. 
  4. Turkey for the first time has exported 0.01 MnT iron ore to France for 2016.
