France: Eramet logs over 70%, y-o-y, growth in nickel ore production in Q1CY’22

Global mining and metallurgy company Eramet’s operations in Indonesia enabled the production of nearly 4.6 million wet metric tonne (mnwmt) of marketable nickel ore in Q12022, an increase of more than 74% versus Q12021. External ore sales tripled over the quarter, amounting to nearly 3.9 mnwmt.

In New Caledonia, mining production amounted to nearly 1.2 mnwmt, up 10% versus Q12021 despite the very bad weather conditions. Ferronickel production was stable at 9,900 t and ferronickel sales increased by 4% to 9,200 t. Export volumes of low-grade nickel ore posted an increase of 46% to 0.6 mnwmt.
