Flat Steel Imports at Kandla Port in Aug’15

Overcapacity of steel and sluggish demand in China have resulted in cheap imports into India; hurting domestic flat steel market. However India’s total flat steel imports declined by 11.10% in Aug’15 with respect to Jul’15.

India’s major portion of flat steel imports take place through Kandla and Mundra ports. In the month of Aug’15, Jindal Saw was the major importer of HRC and imported 35,165 MT from Russia and Korea at Kandla and Mundra ports.

CRC’s major importer in Aug’15 was Apollo Metalex, which imported 4,943 MT at Kandla port from Korea. Meanwhile, MS plates’ highest importer was again Jindal Saw; imported 12,934 MT from Austria at Mundra port.
