SteelMint tracked a Mill Scale export vessel named ‘MV Bright Rainbow’ to load 20,000 MT material from Chennai port.
As per sources vessel was booked for China, Nantong port, and it is expected that loading of vessel will take place in first week of Jan’17.
Rise in global iron ore prices has supported mill scale exports from India. As per data, monthly average iron ore fines (Fe 62%) index moved up in Dec’16 and stood at USD 79/MT CFR China against USD 58/MT, CFR China in Oct’16
In Dec’16 India exported 52,500 MT Mill scale against 9,250 MT in Nov’16. Two export vessels were loaded in Dec’16. Bagadiya Brothers exported Mill Scale for the first time in Dec’16 from Vizag port, the vessel is already at discharging position in China (Rizhao) port.
Indian Mill Scale exports in CY2016
India Mill Scale export fell by 30.3% Y-o-Y to 239,810 MT in CY2016 against 344,200 MT in CY2015. This year total 8 bulk vessels arrived at India’s port against 10 bulk vessels in 2015.
China is the largest importer of Mill Scale from India at 100,250 MT followed by Philippines (87,060 MT). In 2016 China’s mill scale import fell by 64% Y-o-Y, from 279,200 MT in 2015 to 100,250 MT in 2016.
