India imported about 481,500 MT of ferrous scrap in June’16. Two of the major western ports viz. Kandla and Mundra ports were among the top five scrap importing ports in India.
Total scrap import at Kandla Port in June’16 up by 16% and recorded at about 28,430 MT. While, import at Mundra port dipped steeply by 12% and assessed at 15,927 MT on a monthly premises.
Meanwhile, the total ferrous scrap import to India in 2016 (Jan-Jun’16) has touched 3.36 MnT.
