Europe to launch a price cap on natural gas on 15 February’23

The EU has agreed to set a price cap at EUR 180/MWh on natural gas. European energy ministers are going to set an upper limit to price if monthly electricity prices at EU’s main trading centres exceed EUR 180/MWh for three consecutive days. The price cap is less than the previously proposed EUR 275/MWh. Earlier, the mechanism was stalled amid fears of diversion of much-needed gas from Europe.
