Eastern India: Brahmaputra Metallics rolls over billet prices

Ramgarh (Jharkhand) based Brahmaputra Metallics Limited has kept billet price unchanged at INR 39,200/t exw. The company produces premium grade billets, most of which is supplied to Mandi Gobindgarh, Punjab. Recent deals to Mandi are reported at around INR 41,500/t FoR on advance payment basis. Further, the company expects a rise in billet prices due to increasing prices of HR coil, as the thin size pipe makers mostly consume low cost substitutes such as Patra (made from premium grade billets) to maintain cost. The price of Patra is around INR 48,000-49,000/t, compared to HR coil whose prices are at around INR 55,000/t exw Punjab, excluding taxes.
