According to the latest data released by WSA (World Steel Association), the total crude steel production of 66 steel manufacturing countries in Sep’16 have registered a marginal fall of 0.98% at 132.91 MnT against 134.12 MnT in Aug’16.
If Y-o-Y comparison is done, then the same has moved up by 1.45% in Sep’16 against Sep’15.
From Jan-Sep’16, the same is recorded at 1,196 MnT against 1,120 MnT in the corresponding period of 2015.

Here we have analyzed the crude steel production numbers of key countries such as China, India, Japan, and Korea.
India
In Sep’16, India’s crude steel production has moved down by 4% at 7.41 MnT against 8.14 MNT in Aug’16. Whereas, if Y-o-Y comparison is done, the same has increased by 8% in Sep’16 against Sep’15.
For first nine months of 2016 from Jan-Sep, India’s crude steel production stands at 70.41 MnT against 67.49 MnT in the corresponding period of previous year.
China
Country’s crude steel output has registered an increase of 3% in Sep’16 against the corresponding month of previous year. The same stood at 68.17 MnT in Sep’16 against 66.12 MnT in Sep’15.
However, on M-o-M basis, it has registered a fall of 0.58% to 68.17 MnT in Sep’16 to 68.57 MnT in Aug’16.
In first nine months of 2016, country’s crude steel output is recorded at 603.78 MnT up by 0.4% against the corresponding period of last year.
Japan
In Sep’16, Japan’s crude steel production registered a decline of 5.38% at 8.44 MnT against 8.92 MnT in Aug’16. And, the same has registered a fall of 1.51% Y-o-Y basis.
From Jan to Sep’16, Japan’s total crude steel production stands at 78.30 MnT against 78.78 MnT in the corresponding period of previous year.
Korea
Korea’s crude steel output in Sep’16 stood at 5.72 MnT down by 2.56% against Aug’16. If Y-o-Y comparison is done, Korea’s crude steel production in Sep’16 has registered an increase of 1.12% against Sep’15.
In Jan-Sep 2016, Korea’s crude steel production stood at 51.04 MnT against 51.90 MnT in the corresponding period of 2015.
