According to the latest data released by WSA (World Steel Association), the total crude steel production of 66 steel manufacturing countries in Oct’16 have registered a surge of 3% at 137 MnT against 132.9 MnT in Sep’16 .
If Y-o-Y comparison is done, then the same has moved up by 2.2% in Oct’16 against Oct’15.
From Jan-Oct’16, the same is recorded at 1332 MnT against 1344 MnT in the corresponding period of 2015.

Here we have analysed the crude steel production numbers of key countries such as China, India, Japan, and Korea.
India
In Oct’16, India’s crude steel production has jumped by 4% at 8.20 MnT against 7.81 MnT in Sep’16. Whereas, if Y-o-Y comparison is done, the same has increased by 11% in Oct’16 against Oct’15.
For first nine months of 2016 from Jan-Oct, India’s crude steel production, up by 5% and stands at 78.61 MnT against 74.85 MnT in the corresponding period of previous year.
China
Country’s crude steel output has registered an increase of 4% in Oct’16 against the corresponding month of previous year. The same stood at 68.51 MnT in Oct’16 against 66.12 MnT in Oct’15.
However, on M-o-M basis, it has moved up by 0.4 % to 68.17 MnT in Oct’16.
In first ten months of 2016, country’s crude steel output is recorded at 672.83 MnT up by 0.05 % against the corresponding period of last year.

Japan
In Oct’16, Japan’s crude steel production increased by 7.3% at 9.06 MnT against 8.44 MnT in Sep’16. And, the same has registered a fall of 3% to 5.90 MnT in Oct’16 against 6.90 MnT in Oct ‘15 ,Y-o-Y basis.
From Jan to Oct’16, Japan’s total crude steel production stands at 87.36 MnT against 87.79 MnT in the corresponding period of previous year.

Korea
Korea’s crude steel output in Oct’16 stood at 5.90 MnT up by 3.1% against 5.72 MnT in Sep’16. If Y-o-Y comparison is done, Korea’s crude steel production in Oct’16 has registered a plunge of 3.1% against Oct’15.
In Jan-Oct 2016, Korea’s crude steel production stood at 56.94 MnT against 57.99 MnT in the corresponding period of 2015.
