Country-wise Crude Steel Production Analysis in H1 2016

According to the data released by WSA (World Steel Association), the total crude steel production of 66 steel manufacturing countries have registered a fall of 1.9% in first half of 2016 against corresponding period of previous year.

From Jan-Jun’16, the same is recorded at 794.48 MnT against 809.90 MnT in 2015.

Here we have analyzed the crude steel production numbers of key countries such as China, India, Japan, and Korea.

India

In Jun’16, India’s crude steel production moved down by 3.11% against previous month. Whereas, if Y-o-Y comparison is done, the same has increased by 3.87% in current year.

For first half of 2016, India’s crude steel production stands at 46.38 MnT against 45.20 MnT in corresponding period of previous year.

China

In Jun’16, China’s crude steel production is recorded at 69.47 MnT against 70.50 MnT in May’16. The same has registered an increase of 0.77% against Jun’15.

In first half of 2016, country’s crude steel output is recorded at 401.11 MnT which stood at 407.81 MnT in first half of previous year 2015.

Japan

In Jun’16, Japan’s crude steel production registered a fall of 2.01% against previous month and stood at 8.76 MnT. However, the same has increased by 2.69% against Jun’15.

From Jan to Jun’16, Japan’s total crude steel production stands at 52.05 MnT against 52.59 MnT in corresponding period of previous year.

Korea

Korea’s crude steel output in Jun’16 stood at 5.47 MnT down by 6% against May’16. If Y-o-Y comparison is done, Korea’s crude steel production Jun’16 has registered a fall of 7.29% against corresponding month of previous year.

In first half of 2016, Korea’s crude steel production stood at 33.35 MnT against 34.57 MnT in first half of previous year 2015.
