According to the data released by WSA (World Steel Association), the total crude steel production of 66 steel manufacturing countries in Aug’16 have remained the same at 134 MnT against previous month of Jul’16.
If Y-o-Y comparison is done, then the same has moved up by 1.51% in Aug’16 against Aug’15.
From Jan-Aug’16, the same is recorded at 1,063 MnT against 1,079 MnT in corresponding period of 2015.
Here we have analyzed the crude steel production numbers of key countries such as China, India, Japan, and Korea.
India
In Aug’16, India’s crude steel production moved up by marginally 0.74% against previous month and stood at 8.14 MnT. Whereas, if Y-o-Y comparison is done, the same has increased by 9.85% in Aug’16 against Aug’15.
For first eight months of of 2016 from Jan-Aug, India’s crude steel production stands at 62.60 MnT against 60.25 MnT in corresponding period of previous year.
China
In Aug’16, China’s crude steel production is recorded at 68.57 MnT against 66.81 MnT in Jul’16. The same has registered an increase of 2.433% against previous year’s Aug’15.
In first eight months of 2016, country’s crude steel output is recorded at 536.49 MnT which stood at 540.59 MnT in corresponding period of year 2015.
Japan
In Aug’16, Japan’s crude steel production registered a marginal increase of 0.34% against previous month and stood at 8.92 MnT. However, the same has increased by 1.59% against Aug’15.
From Jan to Aug’16, Japan’s total crude steel production stands at 69.86 MnT against 70.21 MnT in corresponding period of previous year.
Korea
Korea’s crude steel output in Aug’16 stood at 5.87 MnT down by 3.92% against Jul’16. If Y-o-Y comparison is done, Korea’s crude steel production in Aug’16 has registered an increase of 1.98% against Aug’15.
In Jan-Aug 2016, Korea’s crude steel production stood at 45.32 MnT against 46.25 MnT in corresponding period of 2015.
