Colombia is expected to produce at least 95 MnT of coal in 2017, the Mining Minister of the country revealed recently. The production level will, however, be behind the target fixed initially at 102 MnT.
During 2016, a record output of 90.9 MnT of coal was produced in the country, and that was the highest production in its history. The record production was achieved despite price volatility, impacting international markets.
The country has a proven coal reserve of around 6 BnT. The probable reserve is much higher at around 16 BnT.
Among the countries, India also is an importer of Colombian coal. During the current fiscal, around 2.1 MnT of Colombian coal was imported into India.
