Colombia’s coal production rose by 52% quarter-on-quarter (q-o-q) to 13.9 mn t during the Jan-Mar’21 period due to resumption of coal production in the northern part of the country, as per reports. However, total production declined by 28% y-o-y as fluctuating global coal prices, supply disruptions, and concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic weighed on the country’s coal output compared to the overall volume recorded last year.
