Indian Coking Coal Imports up 11.8% in Dec’16 M-o-M, Down 6.4% Y-o-Y

In Dec’16, Coking Coal imports into India rose 11.8% against that in Nov’16. According to data collected by CoalMint Research, 3.97 MnT of the coal was imported into the country during the month under consideration.

However, Coking Coal imports in Dec’15 into India were higher by around 6.4% at 4.24 MnT.

Amongst the importing countries, the share of imports from Australia was the highest during the month, followed by that from Canada.

During Dec’16, the Mormugao port had handled the largest volume of import traffic, while the Paradip and Hadia ports followed.
